Jeju Air is an increasingly recognised airline company based in Korea. It’s one of the small airline companies that offer direct flights from Seoul to Bangkok. Jeju offers four flights to Bangkok a week and premium services to its passengers. Although the seats are all in economy, passengers can enjoy meals, drinks and even shop while on air. Being a low-fare airline, it’s among the top competitors on the Seoul-Bangkok route. The biggest indicator of their success is the number of reservations that are already filled months in advance.

Because of the increase in demand, the company opted to ask the government if they are allowed to increase their flights. Instead of four flights a week, they will be offering six flights a week (everyday except Monday). The ultimate plan for Jeju Air is to provide daily flights but the company wants to slow down growth and test the market before committing to the daily flight. The company credits the Korea’s economy rebounding from global recession. Passengers going in and out of Korea are also attracted to using this company which brought down rates and encouraged travel.

Jeju Air is a relatively new airline in the region. The company officially started their operations in 2006 but has to temporarily stop because of Bangkok’s political uncertainty.

This will be called Premium Voyageur. These seats are first going to be seen on flights to New York, Paris, and Tokyo.

These new seats are going to have an extra 19 inches for width. On top of that, the seats will be able to recline up to 123 degrees. The premium economy seats will be offering an extra 40% of space than most airlines’ economy seats. The seat pitch, or the distance between the seat backs will be 38 inches. This is the same distance that you can see on the British Airways World Traveller Plus. All seats also come with a 10.4 inch wide video screen.

Seats also come with a great meal service that offers aperitifs and champagne. All passengers will have the choice of two hot dishes. Passengers in these seats will also have the choice to get ice cream as well. Other services will be offered to the passengers that are flying in these new Premium Voyageur seats that are not offered to other people. A more updated list is available on the Air France website.

All of these passengers will also get dedicated check in. They will also be a 30kg baggage allowance. These great Premium Voyageur seats will be seen on other long haul planes later on. Air France will be waiting to see how these flights do before they add any other long haul premium seats to their flights.

These companies have always been known for their low prices and great service. However, with the big financial crash that has swept its way across many countries and many airlines, these “budget” airlines are having to come up with new ways to draw in customers. As we all know, there is no better way to make a statement than to cut your prices!

For easyJet, they have chosen to cut the prices of their flights, including their premium fights, by up to 25%. This is an amazing deal on already low prices. Not only that, but easyJet has found a way to get their car hire partner involved as well. Europcar has agreed to offer free a upgrade on your car if you book between certain dates. This upgrade will get you out of an economy rental and into a compact hire for no extra cost.

Of course, easyJet is not the only one company that can make great deals. Ryanair, easyJet’s big rival, is also putting on a big sale at the same time. This is known as their 1 million seat sale. Pretty much, Ryanair has put sales on 1 million different seats on over 300 routes. This is Ryanair’s way of being able to keep up with the sales that easyJet is putting out.

Only time will tell which business plan works better, but one thing is for sure, all premium service fliers have some great savings to look forward too! So, what company will you choose?

The current financial crisis is now felt worldwide. More businesses are now tightening their belt so that they would be able to survive the challenges of the economy. As a result of cash saving practices of businesses and even for tourists, international travel significantly went down.

To entice international travelling, various airlines companies are now cutting the prices of tickets especially in premium seats. Fuel surcharges are being slashed by different airlines so that ticket prices will go down which would be appealing to travellers. As much as $100 each way, per ticket would be reduced to the original ticket price.

But experts predict that the price reduction for international traveling might never be enough. A $100 savings could be considered only by a small number of travelers. The numbers of traveler especially in premium seats will still go down. Business could also enjoy the price cut but it’s also too small to be posted as a long term savings.

The airlines acknowledge this and because of the scenario, the possibility of ticket prices going down is good. The airlines can slash prices to reduce earnings but they cannot afford to spend thousands of dollars per international flight without filling the seats.

The North American airline industry has significantly posted losses in their premium flights for international travel. The demand for premium seats reduced to more than 10% when the number of reservation is compared to last year. Clearly, the airlines are scrambling to get hold of their travellers or else they could end up in bankruptcy.

Premium flights are a great way to fly. Not only do you get above normal accommodations, but you also end up paying less than you would for first class seats. So premium flights sound like heaven, right? Well, for the most part, yes. However, there are a few things that you need to look for before you book yourself a premium flight.

In an attempt to save on money, some premium flights give you great conditions, but skip out on serving food. This, of course, does bring down the cost of the ticket, but depending on how long your flight is, there is a chance that you could get hungry. The best way to deal with this is to make sure that your flight always includes some kind of meal. If it does not include a meal, look to make sure that it includes at least a snack.

Although most premium flights are pretty honest and would not try to trick you, there is a slim chance that you might run into an airline that is trying to cut corners. So to be on the safe side, be sure to always check.

Now, if you find a deal on a premium flight that is just way too good to pass up but they do not serve any food, there are a few ways that you can get around this. The best way to deal with this problem is to bring your own snack food and anything that you can make with hot water. Even if the flight does not serve “food”, they do have to serve hot water. Thus, it is possible to make things like tea and soup in a cup! On top of that, things like fruit cups, candy bars, chips, and the ever popular nuts are always a good choice.

Premium economy seats are the latest seat class offered by different airlines. This type of seat class was first offered by European Airlines such as BA, Air France and Virgin Atlantic. The popularity of this seat class prompted US based airlines to offer the same type of service. For a few extra dollars, you will usually have more legroom, more preference in meals and personal in flight entertainment.

But is it really worth it? Would you pay extra just to have a little upgrade of services?

This usually depends on where you are travelling and how you are travelling. Premium economy seats are highly recommended for international travel. Since you will be in your chair for at least 12 hours, you might as well pay extra to have a better chair with better options.

On the other hand, if you are only travelling locally and alone, you might be better off in economy. Remember that what you are getting is an upgrade from economy seats and if you are able to go through little inconveniences, you can save on transportation costs.

You can also travel in premium economy during domestic flights when you are travelling with your kids. The leg room that you and your family will enjoy is more than enough to let your little ones do what they want without bothering anyone.

Unfortunately, premium economy seats are only offered in limited flights for now. But they are now offered in major destinations in the country such as Las Vegas, Orlando and Los Angeles to cater to the increasing demands of this type of reservation

Premium economy is basically an upgraded economy reservation. But its interpretation is different according to each airline. Asia-based airlines offer different perks when you opt to travel with premium economy.

China Airlines

China Airlines offers relatively limited advantages for their travellers in premium economy. Aside from better legroom compared to economy, China Airlines offers improved luggage service and the ability to select seats. Entertainment is basically on newspapers and magazines with a few wines added in their beverages.

JAL (Japan Airlines)

Japan Airlines offer better relaxation while travelling. Personalized entertainment on video and music as well as optional slippers for a more relaxing travel is available for premium economy. An AC power source is available for those who wanted to work on their laptops while travelling. Executive lounge and exclusive check-in counter is also available for premium economy customers.

Thai Airways

Thai Airways offers a remarkable 42” pitch – better than most airlines which are usually at 38”. This is coupled with better angle for those who wanted to sleep. Leg rests as well as wider arm rests are also featured in premium economy. An optional power source is also available for laptops and other electronic devices.

All Nippon Airways (ANA)

ANA also features better seat pitch as it is measured at 50 inches. The seats are even wider as most aircraft configuration has only enough space for two passengers on each side. Exclusive lounge as well as premium luggage service is also offered by ANA. Personalized reading light is also available for longer travels. Like most airlines, they also offer power source for different electronic gadgets.

This offer will also be available on its subsidiary, Mandarin Airlines. The airlines started offering this type of seating class at the beginning of December. The routes offering these type of seats are the following: Kaohsiung to Manila, Kaohsiung to Seoul, Taipei to Yangon.

For now, the seats will be limited in each flight – these routes are currently being served by Embraer E190. Each aircraft servicing the routes will only feature eight seats for premium passengers. Expansion is possible but the airline is careful in offering more seats as travellers today are opting for economy seats more to save on airline ticket prices.

Despite of the global economic downturn, China airlines has braved to offer these seats as this would be a welcoming change in airline travel. The prices of upgrading to premium seats are even highly competitive. An additional fee of TWD 1,000 (Taiwanese Dollars) or around USD30 will be paid by the passenger to enjoy premium seats. This is practically a small addition for those who wanted to travel comfortable in their international travel.

The first two rows of the airline will be dedicated to premium economy. Travellers who opted for this type of seat will have the option to select which row they would prefer. Additional perks to be enjoyed in premium economy seats are upgraded luggage service, gourmet meals as well as wide variety of choices in magazines and newspapers.

International travel is often very difficult. You have to seat in a chair for hours and you have to deal with very difficult security checks in most airports around the world. Although you’re not complaining about improved security for everyone’s safety, sometimes the security check-up will take longer especially during peak hours. All these could be experienced while paying too much on an economy flight.

If you are looking for ease in international travel, go for premium economy seats. The attachment of “economy” in this type of seat will make you think that’s almost the same as economy. Actually this type of seat is almost the same as a business flight. The legroom is significantly increased in seats and you’ll have wider chairs. All airlines that offer premium flight seats also provide additional in-fight entertainment. You should be able to rest comfortably and enjoy the flight instead of being crammed in an economy seat.

With regards to checking in for the flight, premium economy ticket holders also enjoy online check-in. Sure that is also available in economy ticket holders but they don’t have a dedicated check-in area.
During international travel, opt for premium flights. By bumping your payments a little bit more, you will experience a good way to travel. Remember that you will be in a seat for more than eight hours so you need all the comfort you can get.
