Criticism for third runway in London
BAA or British Airports Authority is gunning for the expansion of the Heathrow airport as the number of travellers is expected to exponentially increase in ten years. But this plan was met with harsh criticism from the locals as this plan will yield considerable damage to people living in the area and possibly in London. Aside from air pollution, noise pollution is expected to increase when the third runway is opened for airlines. It is expected that those living within the 20-mile radius will experience immediate impact of the noise pollution.
But BAA has plans to reduce the number of flights that goes into Heathrow.
The third runway is expected to be used to increase control of the airline traffic which will also increase the comfort of domestic and international travellers. To prove its dedication to cutting down number of flights, BAA will include an independent body when the third runway is added. The airport authority is planning to include someone from the government to assure the locals that the airport will stay safe or even improve the local conditions.
But the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats including the Greenpeace are not buying anything posed by the BAA. Their position is based on the fact that a third runway will always mean additional travel. The third runway will greatly override the emission requirements which will be dangerous for the locals.
BAA is a privately owned company that owns the Heathrow airport and several other airports in UK. They are also owners of several other airports outside the country including Naples International Airport in Italy.
