China Airlines offers premium seats

China Airlines, one of the most popular airlines in Asia has begun offering premium economy seats on their selected inter-Asian flights. This offer will also be available on its subsidiary, Mandarin Airlines. The airlines started offering this type of seating class at the beginning of December. The routes offering these type of seats are the following: Kaohsiung to Manila, Kaohsiung to Seoul, Taipei to Yangon.

For now, the seats will be limited in each flight – these routes are currently being served by Embraer E190. Each aircraft servicing the routes will only feature eight seats for premium passengers. Expansion is possible but the airline is careful in offering more seats as travellers today are opting for economy seats more to save on airline ticket prices.

Despite of the global economic downturn, China airlines has braved to offer these seats as this would be a welcoming change in airline travel. The prices of upgrading to premium seats are even highly competitive. An additional fee of TWD 1,000 (Taiwanese Dollars) or around USD30 will be paid by the passenger to enjoy premium seats. This is practically a small addition for those who wanted to travel comfortable in their international travel.

The first two rows of the airline will be dedicated to premium economy. Travellers who opted for this type of seat will have the option to select which row they would prefer. Additional perks to be enjoyed in premium economy seats are upgraded luggage service, gourmet meals as well as wide variety of choices in magazines and newspapers.
